So search for availability of your desired domain name. Domain name prices range from $4.00 US to $60.00 US.  Make sure when you are pricing the domain that you will own the domain name and also have the ability to transfer the domain.  Keep your contact information current with the domain registration company. Most domain prices are for 1 or 2 years. The domain registar will notify you when the time is almost up. However, if you have moved, or have a new email you may not receive the notice.

When you buy the domain name you will need to switch the name servers to point to your hosting account.  You web host will give you the name servers to use.
